Two suicide bombers hit southern Afghan city
28/03/2006 - 07:39:28Suspected Taliban militants with explosives strapped to their bodies blew themselves up in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar today after they were challenged by police.
No other deaths or injuries were reported in the blasts, that occurred on a main street in the city, said provincial Governor Asadullah Khalid. He said the attackers had been on foot.
Khalid said he thought the two bombers were Afghan Taliban militants, and added that authorities had had intelligence that suicide attackers had been planning to enter the city, a former Taliban stronghold.
