Man arrested after woman seriously injured in Belfast fire

A man has been arrested after a fire at a house in Belfast, which has left a woman in a serious condition in hospital.

Fire and rescue service, and police crews, were called to the home on Clanmorris Street in the north of the city just after midnight.

A spokesperson for the Police Service of Northern Ireland said that enquiries are ongoing as to how blaze started.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident police, and fire and rescue crews, came under attack in West Belfast last night.

They were set upon by youths throwing stones and bottles, while they were attending a hoax call to an unoccupied house on the Springfield Road shortly before 4am.

An 18-year-old man was arrested but has since been released.
