Diddy to appeal Notorious Big ruling

22/03/2006 - 08:20:08
Bad Boy Entertainment mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs has launched an appeal against the sales ban imposed on Notorious Big's breakthrough album 'Ready to die'.

On Friday, a jury decided the late rapper's title track features an illegal sample of the Ohio Players' 1992 song 'Singing in the morning', and US District Judge Todd Campbell awarded $4.2m (€3.6m) in damages to Bridgeport Music and Westbound Records.

The sales ban imposed in a Nashville, Tennessee, courthouse not only covers shops, but also internet downloads and radio play.

However, lawyers representing Combs and Bad Boy Entertainment are confident their appeal will overturn the original ruling.

A spokesperson tells AllHipHop.com: "The verdict was erroneous and against the great weight of the evidence.

"We are very confident that it will be reversed on appeal."
