ISEQ loses ground

The ISEQ index of Irish shares continued to lose ground today, falling 57.24 points to 7946.16 by the end of day's trading.

The financial sector enjoyed mixed fortunes. Irish Life and Permanent continued its current good form, jumping 30c to €19.30. AIB rose 11c to €19.37.

Anglo Irish Bank fell 14c to €13.31 while Bank of Ireland slipped 10c to €15.30.

Elsewhere oil stocks also saw mixed fortunes. Tullow Oil fell 4c to €4.75 while Dragon Oil rose 1c to €3.06.

Pharmaceutical company Elan plunged €1.02 to €11.16, a drop of over 8%.
