Coughlan publishes plan for agri-food sector
22/03/2006 - 13:41:41Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan has published a 166-point plan for the future of the agri-food sector in Ireland.
The document contains recommendations on how farmers and food and drinks manufacturers can survive in an increasingly competitive environment.
Speaking at the launch of the plan, Ms Coughlan said the agri-food sector was vital to Ireland’s economy.
She said her plan underlined the fact that the Irish industry needed to focus on producing safe, high-quality and nutritious food for high-value markets.
