O'Callaghan on target for Cork

Cork City 3 Portadown 1

George O’Callaghan scored what could prove a vital late goal to put some substance to Cork’s win and leave them in control of their destiny in the semi-final of the Setanta Sports Cup.

Cork had the dream start of the lead goal after two minutes and utterly dominated a lacklustre Ports side, thumped 4-0 at Drogheda last week.

Cork missed several chances before scoring again on 70 minutes when Denis Behan’s shot was deflected to the net off defender Henry McStay.

Paddy Quinn stunned Cork to pull a goal back three minutes later.

But Cork remained in control and O’Callaghan hit a 90th minute goal to seal the comfortable win which means they must avoid a two goal defeat in their final match at Drogheda next Monday to get home advantage in the last four of the competition.
