Fenton upbeat about Speciosa chances
Michael Fenton has high hopes that Speciosa will run with credit in the Stan James 1000 Guineas at Newmarket in May.
The daughter of Danehill Dancer proved a money-spinner for Peterborough trainer Pam Sly as a juvenile, winning the Group Two Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket on her final start.
“She’s very talented. She’s always showed class and probably improved a bit as the year went on,” Fenton told At The Races.
“She’ll probably go for the Nell Gwyn over seven as her preparation for the Guineas.
“She’s going a bit faster in her home work now and is giving me good signs at the moment. They did a great job with her last year. She’s looking very well but a bit more warm weather would help.
“There were a lot of form horses around her when she won the Rockfel and she’s definitely entitled to have a crack at the Guineas. I’m really looking forward to it. She’s got plenty of class.
“Fingers crossed, I know it’s a bit of an ask but she could be knocking at the door.”
Speciosa is generally available at 50-1 for the fillies’ Classic on May 7.
