Mourinho: I'm staying at Chelsea

19/03/2006 - 15:32:08
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has stressed he fully intends to see out his contract at Stamford Bridge despite speculation linking him with a move abroad.

Newspaper reports claimed the former Porto boss was on his way to Inter Milan in the summer but Mourinho has dismissed that notion.

“I want to tell the Chelsea fans that these stories are completely untrue,” he said.

“There is no way I will be at Inter Milan next season. I promise you I will be the Chelsea manager.

“I have a contract with Chelsea until 2010 and I fully intend to see that out.

“Soon we will hopefully be celebrating our second Premiership title and maybe if we can win the FA Cup too it will be Chelsea’s greatest ever season.

“Chelsea is a great project for the future, as well as the present, and I have spoken many times about being part of that project for years to come. Nothing has changed.”

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon was also keen to confirm the club’s position.

“Jose has a contract with Chelsea until 2010 and we as a club are totally committed to that timetable,” he told the club’s website, www.chelsea.fc.com.

“Stories about him leaving and other managers coming are totally false.”
