11 dead as boat capsizes in central India
17/03/2006 - 10:10:12Eleven people died today when a boat they were travelling on capsized in a river in central India.
The boat, apparently overcrowded, was travelling on the Waingang river in the state of Maharashtra when it overturned, local police said according to the Press Trust of India news agency.
There were 27 people on the boat when it went down and 16 people managed to swim to safety, police said, adding that all the bodies had been recovered.
