Investigation launched into Limerick shooting

Detectives in Limerick have launched an investigation into the shooting of a man in the city last night.

A brick was thrown through a window of the victim’s home in Rosbrien shortly before 11pm.

When the man, who is in his forties, came out to see what had happened he was shot twice in the lower back.

The attacker fled on foot while an ambulance was called for the victim who was rushed to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where he is now recovering in intensive care.

The scene has been preserved by gardaí at Roxboro and detectives are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

The attack is not believed to be linked to any ongoing feud in the city.
