Robbery foiled in Dublin

Gardaí tonight foiled an armed robbery in south Dublin.

Three men were attempting to rob a businessman in Rathfarnham village around 5pm when they were intercepted by officers from the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

“A firearm was also recovered at the scene. No shots were fired and nobody was injured,” a garda spokesman said.

The three men in their 20s were arrested and detained at garda stations in Rathfarnham and Tallaght under 30 Offences Against the State Act.

They can be held for 72 hours without charge under the legislation.
