ISEQ rises more than 50 points

The financials lead the charge in Dublin's stock exchange this morning as the ISEQ index was up 56.49 points at 7956.30 by 11am.

The largest riser was AIB bank, up 23c to €19.43, with Bank of Ireland close behind on a 22c rise to €15.26. Anglo Irish Bank had a more modest nine cent increase to €13.55 while Irish Life and Permanent remained stable on €18.40.

The construction sector also contributed with increases as building material group CRH climbed 22c to €28.02. Kingspan had a 15c rise to €12.25 and rival Grafton climbed 13c to €10.70.

Elsewhere, bookmakers Paddy Power continued the positive news with a 13c increase to €13.15, but insurance group FBD Holdings tumbled 30c to €39.20.
