Probe closer to understanding blast that killed Hariri

A UN investigation is closer to understanding the circumstances surrounding former Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination and has received better cooperation with Syria, according to a report released today.

Yet the chief investigator, Serge Brammertz, refused to disclose many more details about the progress of his investigation into Hariri’s February 14, 2005 assassination in a car bomb that also killed 22 other people.

The 25-page report did say, however, that one of those killed in the blast had not been identified and was possibly one of its perpetrators.
