Sedgefield abandoned
14/03/2006 - 11:49:30This afternoon’s meeting at Sedgefield has been abandoned after the track failed a third inspection at 11am.
Acting clerk of the course Charlie Moore took an initial look at 7.30am but that and a further inspection at 9am proved inconclusive.
However, Moore was forced to call off the meeting after a third look as snow had rendered the track unraceable.
“It was a very, very difficult decision. Two stewards and myself had to make the decision,” he said.
“The back straight is the cause of the problems as the wind is still very cold down there.”
