BoI in student giveaway
14/03/2006 - 10:02:43Thirty students from across the country will wake up this morning to the news that they have won money in a Bank of Ireland giveaway.
The Live Rent Free promotion, with a prize fund of €120,000, will reward each of the 30 students with a cheque for €4,000.
Rent is the single biggest expense facing the majority of students in Ireland, with 45% renting accommodation with friends and a further 21% living on campus.
The total cost of living for students is currently estimated at €699 per month or €6,291 for the nine-month academic year, with the cost of rent making up 42% of the overall cost.
