Israelis claim Palestinians planning Jewish holiday attacks
13/03/2006 - 09:01:43Israeli security officials have about 70 warnings of possible Palestinian attacks during the Purim Jewish holiday, of which 15 are regarded as specific threats, Israel Radio reported today.
Other media reports said security forces would flood city streets, public transport and shopping malls during the holiday, which begins this evening.
Late last night soldiers near the West Bank city of Nablus arrested two Palestinians the army said were trying to smuggle a bomb through a roadblock.
A military spokesperson could not comment on the possible target, saying the incident was still under investigation.
During Purim, children and many adults dress up in costumes, march in street carnivals, pack synagogues and attend parties.
