Shels salvage a point

10/03/2006 - 22:27:20
Bray Wanderers 2 Shelbourne 2

Jason Byrne scored twice, the second a late penalty, as Shels twice came from behind to salvage a point at the Carlisle Grounds. Bray stunned Shels to take a 11th minute lead with terrific goal.

Stephen Fox set-up Eamon Zayed and the former under-21 international drilled the ball home from 25 yards.

But Shels were level within eight minutes when Alan Moore’s cross was touched on by Glen Crowe for Byrne to tap home. A blunder by Shels’ keeper Dean Delaney restored Bray’s lead on 45 minutes when he dropped Paul Caffrey’s corner into his own net.

But drama unfolded on 80 minutes when Bray defender Wes Charles was sent off for dissent following a handball incident and Byrne slotted home the spot kick to rescue a point.
