Cork got their title retention hopes off to a winning start but will be disappointed they didn’t win by more against the Premier Division new boys.
Cork had a dream start with George O’Callaghan slotting home a fourth minute penalty following a rather harsh handball given against Damien Brennan.
Vikings defended doggedly throughout the second half to frustrate Cork's best efforts and Damien Richardson’s side had to settle for the narrowest of winning margins.
