Benitez determined to lift reds
Rafael Benitez insisted he can lift his shattered Liverpool side and refocus for the rest of the season after losing the European crown.
The speed with which Benitez can lift spirits and get back to business in the Barclays Premiership and FA Cup could determine whether Liverpool's season ends in ruins or not.
After watching his side’s bitterly frustrating exit from the Champions League, a 3-0 aggregate loss to Benfica after a 2-0 defeat at Anfield last night, Benitez admitted they must recover quickly.
He said: “We still have the FA Cup and we still have the league and a Champions League qualification place to secure. We must put this behind us quickly.
“We need to think of going to Arsenal on Sunday and then the cup tie at Birmingham.
“My players are very upset by losing the chance of retaining their European title, but the world must move on and we have other things to achieve.”
