World 'has to give in to Iran's nuclear demands
08/03/2006 - 09:20:53President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad today said that the world must give in to Iran’s right to enrich uranium.
“Our nation has made its decision to fully use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and all have to give in to this decision made by the Iranian nation,” he told thousands of people in western Iran.
His comments came a day after Washington warned of “meaningful consequences” if Iran does not back away from an international confrontation over its nuclear programme.
The United States also rejected any potential 11th hour compromise to allow Iran to develop nuclear fuel that could be used for weapons.
Iran has said it won’t stop research-scale uranium enrichment it resumed last month, but was ready to suspend large-scale enrichment for a short period of time.
