Clan considered for weekend outing
07/03/2006 - 10:25:55John Smith’s Grand National favourite Clan Royal could have another outing over hurdles at Chepstow or Market Rasen this weekend.
Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has made speculative entries in three-mile events at the Welsh track on Saturday and the Lincolnshire venue on Sunday.
The Jackdaws Castle handler would like to give the 11-year-old a spin before the Aintree feature on April 8, but will not be forced into a run if conditions are not right.
“He’s in at Chepstow, Market Rasen on Sunday,” said O’Neill.
“He may run and he may not.
“The plan is to give him a run before Aintree but if it doesn’t happen, then it doesn’t matter.
“I am really happy with him.”
