Adams demands restoration of devolution before summer
Sinn Féin is demanding that the Irish and British governments restore devolution in the North before the upcoming loyalist marching season.
Speaking at a press conference in Belfast today, Mr Adams said the current approach to breaking the stalemate in the peace process was going nowhere and the two governments were aware of this.
He said the DUP was being allowed to hold up progress as all the other parties in the North were committed to restoring power-sharing as early as possible.
Mr Adams said he had written to the Taoiseach and the British prime minister demanding an end to the current approach of trying to get the DUP to agree to share power with republicans.
He said the two governments should instead restore devolution before the summer and, if the DUP refuses to co-operate, they should press ahead with implementing outstanding aspects of the Good Friday Agreement.
