Clarion Group to open second Limerick hotel
The Clarion Hotel Group is set to open a second premises in Limerick following a €20m investment.
Clarion Hotels has leased the site formerly occupied by The Ardhu Ryan Hotel on the Ennis Road, and a new development comprising of some 61 suites is set to open next month.
About 50 new staff will be employed at Clarion Hotel Suites according to the hotel's regional general manager Sean Lally.
"The arrival of the 61 suites, located on the Ennis Road brings the full complement of Clarion bedrooms in Limerick to 215," he explained.
The new development on the Ennis Road consists of 18 one bedroom and 43 two bedroomed suites offering separate sitting rooms with a dining area, along with six meeting rooms catering for up to 100 people.
A bar and restaurant serving Malaysian styled cuisine will also be located in the new premises and both will be open to the public.
Guests staying at the Clarion Suites will also have full use of the gymnasium and other facilities at the Clarion Hotel located on Steamboat Quay in Limerick city.
The 17 storey building is the tallest hotel in Ireland and is situated beside the river Shannon.
Speaking following confirmation that Clarion Suites Limerick is set to open next month, Brendan Curtis, group director of operations, also revealed that plans are in the pipeline for similar style developments in Sligo and Dublin.
"We will develop the Clarion Suites in line with our proven business model, introducing the concept to Sligo and Liffey Valley shortly," he said.
Last year Clarion Hotels opened properties in Cork, Sligo, Dublin Liffey Valley and at Dublin Airport (formerly The Holiday Inn).
The group more recently acquired its first UK property, The Croydon Park Hotel in London which was purchased at a cost of €35m.
