05/03/2006 - 16:11:38Newcastle are carefully monitoring conditions ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with an inspection likely to be called tomorrow.
The course has experienced a series of cold nights with clerk of the course James Armstrong reporting the track to be frozen at present.
He said: “We have been pretty much frozen since last Tuesday with temperatures ranging from minus three to minus nine.
“We haven’t called an inspection yet but we will be monitoring what happens overnight and tomorrow morning before deciding whether to take a look. I wouldn’t be overly optimistic but we will have to see what happens.”
