Loeb takes command in Mexico

05/03/2006 - 11:06:10
World champion Sebastien Loeb dominated day two of the Rally Mexico, winning seven of the eight stages to establish a 37.7 seconds lead over Petter Solberg.

The Frenchman encountered few problems in his Citroen until being slowed by a power steering failure on stage 13, but even then he managed to pull further clear of Solberg.

The Norwegian Subaru driver suffered a series of setbacks, hitting a dog on stage nine and twice finding rocks in his path later on.

Nevertheless, he is still over three minutes clear of third-placed Peugeot driver Manfred Stohl.

Citroen’s Daniel Sordo is another 32 seconds adrift in fourth while Peugeot’s Henning Solberg is over 10 minutes off the pace in fifth.
