Staunton confirms May meeting with Chile
03/03/2006 - 15:49:59The new Manager of the Republic of Ireland Stephen Staunton has confirmed newspaper reports that Ireland's next match will come in May against Chile.
And Staunton has also joined in the general praised for debutants Joey O'Brien, Kevin Doyle, Stephen Ireland and Wayne Henderson for their displays against Sweden on Wednesday night.
Staunton said: "I thought everyone did very well – I couldn’t ask for more.
"I could have given Joey (O’Brien) a full game, but he’s had a lot of games with Bolton and I thought it was nice to be able to take him off and get a round of applause for him."
