Workers to be offered second vote on Jacobs survival plan
03/03/2006 - 07:16:20Workers at the Jacobs Fruitfield plant in the Tallaght area of Dublin are expected to be given a second chance to accept the company's survival plan at a meeting later today.
Yesterday, company management threatened to shut down the factory in a matter of weeks after the 300-strong workforce rejected changes in work practices put forward in an effort to reduce costs.
The changes would see staff having to work more flexible hours for the same pay.
Unions are urging their members to reconsider their initial rejection of the deal in light of the new threat to the factory's future.
