Donegal v Longford game postponed
The NFL Division 2A game between Donegal and Longford, which was originally scheduled to take place this Sunday at Ballybofey, has been postponed today by the GAA's Games Administration Committee.
The postponement came about after the failure of the Donegal and Longford county boards to agree on a venue for the league clash.
Earlier this week, Longford requested for a switch of the venue, which was marked down as Ballybofey in the published fixtures list, to their home ground of Pearse Park. The Longford board cited that this would be the fourth year in succession that they had been given four away games in the seven-game round-robin league programme.
The GAA then agreed to refix the game for Pearse Park, but Donegal, who are reportedly seeking legal advice on the matter, have now succeeded with their request for the game's postponement.
A GAA statement confirmed that their request was deemed: "Fair and reasonable in the circumstances in order to allow some time to resolve the impasse that has arisen.
"The Games Administration Committee is requesting that both counties attend a meeting of the Committee at the earliest possible opportunity to allow the matter to be discussed."
If Donegal are forced to play at Pearse Park, it will be a fifth away game of the 2006 NFL campaign for Brian McIver's men, who sit join top with Longford in the Division 2A table.
