Dublin shops urged to curb St Patrick's Day drink sales

Gardaí have reportedly asked shops and off-licences in Dublin city centre to restrict alcohol sales this St Patrick's Day.

Reports this morning said all retail outlets were being asked not to sell alcohol in the city centre until after 4pm on March 17 in an effort to combat public drunkenness.

More than 700 people were arrested for public order offences nationwide on St Patrick's Day last year.
