2006 looking rosy for business start-ups
This will be a busy year for business start-ups, according to Bank of Ireland's first Business Start-up Barometer, published today.
There have been 3,045 new companies registered since January 1. Dublin is the top location for company formations with 1,060 companies set up in the county this year, followed by Cork where 237 companies were formed and Galway with 147 start-ups.
Limerick and Kildare also rated highly in the analysis with 111 and 74 companies established in both counties this year.
Following trends in 2005, the most popular start-up companies were in the real estate and construction sectors with 805 companies formed. Some 140 new companies are in the management and software consultancy sector while engineering and architectural activities accounted for 85 of the new companies.
In the first two months of the year, 69 restaurants and 38 bars registered in the first two months of this year.
