Northern households facing 11% rise in electricity prices

01/03/2006 - 13:32:35
The company that provides electricity supplies in the North has announced an 11% price rise from April of this year.

The increase is lower than expected as Northern Ireland Electricity had warned earlier this year that it could push up prices by 20%.

The 11% rise will see the average household paying an extra £3.10 (€4.50) every month.

NIE said the hike was needed due to rising international fuel prices.
