Motorists urged to be cautious as cold snap persists

Motorists are being advised to be extra cautious on the roads today, with freezing temperatures continuing to grip most parts of the country.

The situation is worst in the north and north-west, but driving conditions are said to be treacherous in many other areas.

Further snowfalls are also forecast for later today, with Met Éireann predicted that the cold snap will last until early next week.
