Bank of Scotland’s Irish profits up 20% last year

Bank of Scotland enjoyed a bumper year in Ireland last year, according to the company's latest financial results.

The bank said its Irish pre-tax profits increased by 20% to €167m in 2005.

It said its home loans grew by a massive 50%, while business banking was also up by one-third.

Bank of Scotland said it was taking a significant share of both these markets from its main rivals.
