Montgermont out of Newbury feature
28/02/2006 - 12:57:02Montgermont will miss the Vodafone Gold Cup at Newbury on Saturday after working poorly this morning.
The recent winner of the Reynoldstown Chase had been installed as one of five 9-1 co-favourites with totesport for the valuable two-and-a-half-mile handicap chase.
He also had an entry in the totesport.com Grimthorpe Chase at Lingfield.
“We have no idea what’s wrong at this stage, but he worked poorly so he will not be running on Saturday,” said John Taylor, whose wife Lavinia trains the six-year-old.
“We had no forewarning this might happen as we had been away in France. He worked with Monte Cristo, who is a good galloping yardstick.
“We’ll see what transpires over the next few days.”
