House prices for first-time buyers surpasses €250,000
28/02/2006 - 12:13:56The average price paid by first-time home-buyers has surpassed the €250,000 mark for the first time, according to figures published today.
The latest Permanent TSB/ESRI house price index shows that the average price paid by first-time buyers in January was just over €251,000.
Elsewhere, the index shows house prices in general are continuing to rise relentlessly, with the average cost of a house nationally increasing by 1.2% to €281,000 last month.
This follows similar monthly increases during October, November and December of last year.
Average prices in Dublin have now almost hit the €375,000 mark, compared to just under €245,000 in the rest of the country.
