Doherty held in car theft probe
28/02/2006 - 09:24:53Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a car and being in possession of Class A drugs.
He was one of three men stopped in Birmingham last night and detained in connection with a report of a vehicle having been stolen in London.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “Three men were arrested yesterday when a car was stopped in Colmore Row at approximately 9.15pm.
“They were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle relating to a report of a car stolen in London and on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs.
“One of the men was aged 26 and from London. The other two are aged 18 and 19 from Dundee.
“They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
