Heroic goalkeeping not enough to stop Cats

26/02/2006 - 19:13:50
Tipperary 0-10 Kilkenny 0-19

Three-time All-Star Brendan Cummins put on a goalkeeping masterclass but still ended up on the losing side in Thurles today.

The Tipperary stopper pulled off five stunning saves in the first half. He twice parried penalties from Richie Power, thwarting him again on 25 minutes. Eoin Reid was frustrated four minutes later, and Cummins saved from a combination of Reid and 'Cha' Fitzpatrick on 31 minutes.

Even the heroic Cummins could do nothing about the Cats' points scoring, however.

Kilkenny led 0-10 to 0-03 at the break and built on their lead with Power finishing with 0-07 to his name, with Fitzpatrick scoring 0-04.
