This afternoon’s meeting at Chepstow will go ahead after a planned morning inspection was cancelled.

Overnight temperatures had been forecast to go below zero but the lowest they reached was plus one degree.

And with a dry forecast for the rest of the day there are no reported problems at the track

“There was no overnight frost,” said Tim Long, clerk of the course.

“The lowest we reached was plus one-and-a-half degrees and we are already up another degree on that.

“There is a cold wind but that won’t stop us racing.”
