Govt to crack down on social welfare fraud
25/02/2006 - 09:41:08An Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee will meet next week to discuss how best to crack down on fraudulent welfare claims in the coming months.
The 2004 Comptroller and Auditor General's Report showed that €18.6m was lost by the State to false claims in 2003.
Vice Chairman of the Committee John McGuinness said they will focus on the issuing of PPS numbers.
