Kurten chalks up first win at Belgian event

Riding her eight-year-old stallion Commander, Ireland’s Jessica Kurten chalked up her first victory at Hasselt, Belgium this afternoon.

The 36-year-old Irish rider piloted her German-bred horse through the Carlsberg Prize two-phase competition without a fault, and crossed the line less than half a second ahead of Belgian runner-up, Dominique Hendrickx.

Kurten, who will be competing at the two-star show until Sunday, had a second place on Thursday night with her other eight-year-old stallion, Carving.
