Two arrested in hunt for depot robbers
23/02/2006 - 19:22:21Detectives hunting an organised gang responsible for Britain’s biggest ever robbery have arrested two people, police confirmed tonight.
A man, aged 29, and a woman, 31, were held in the London area by Kent Police’s serious and major crime squad.
The two are tonight at undisclosed police stations in the Kent area and are being questioned on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.
A 100-strong police team is engaged in the hunt for the gang of at least six “callous” armed robbers who stole up to £50m (€73.5m) from the Securitas depot in Tonbridge, Kent.
