Injury blow for Pompey striker
23/02/2006 - 15:07:36Portsmouth’s record signing Benjani Mwaruwari is rated doubtful for Saturday’s clash with champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Zimbabwe striker Benjani, still seeking his first goal for the club following his £4.4m (€6.5m) signing, pulled a groin muscle in training on Thursday and is rated only “50-50” by manager Harry Redknapp.
Salif Diao, the Senegal international on loan from Liverpool, has already been ruled out after straining a hamstring, while Pedro Mendes trained for the first time this week after damaging an abductor muscle.
