Newton checks in Bafta award
23/02/2006 - 10:42:36Bafta-winning actress Thandie Newton was so scared she'd lose her Best Supporting Actress prize at the London ceremony on Sunday night, she trusted a cloakroom attendant to guard it for her.
The Crash star feared alcohol and the emotion of the event would cause her to misplace the coveted gong.
She explains: "People keep on asking me to show them the award and I have to explain it's in the cloakroom.
"I was afraid to put it down somewhere and forget about it or that someone might try to pinch it. So I asked if I could put the award in with my coat and the attendant agreed and gave me a ticket. He promised me he won't flog it behind my back!"
