Texters urged to help needy children
Needy children are to benefit from the handiwork of texters nationwide.
Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity, today announced details of their "Toddle Text" campaign. Members of the public can make a €2 donation to Barnardos simply by texting the word "toddle" to 57080.
The text campaign kicks off Barnardos biggest annual fundraising event, a sponsored walk for toddlers all over the country. Now in its third year, the Danone Big Toddle For Barnardos has already raised over €400,000 for babies and toddlers who are facing neglect, abuse or who are at risk from poverty or their parents’ alcohol and drug misuse.
Members of the Irish rugby team are among those giving their support to the event.
Captain Brian O’Driscoll said: “The Irish team will spend 80 minutes running around Lansdowne Road on Sunday and at the same time all over Ireland kids are getting their feet ready to help other kids. We’re delighted to be able to give Barnardos this support to get as many kids as possible to ’toddle’ and we hope fans on Sunday will let their thumbs do the toddling.”
