Fine Gael accuses Martin of abusing codes of conduct
20/02/2006 - 11:57:35Fine Gael has accused the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment of breaching the rules in order to further the Government's handling of the Groceries Order controversy.
It has emerged that a senior civil servant briefed a meeting of Fianna Fáil TDs on the matter last year.
Under public service codes of conduct, civil servants are not allowed to brief political party gatherings.
Phil Hogan of Fine Gael has said that Fianna Fáil is once again abusing its power in Government.
He has called on the Taoiseach to explain to the public how exactly he is going to address the matter of Government ministers who “are in flagrant breach of codes laid down for Ministers and civil servants”.
