Six footballers banned over match brawl
Three Dublin and three Tyrone footballers have each been banned for two months over their involvement in a match brawl earlier this month, the GAA confirmed today.
The Central Disciplinary Committee today announced its rulings on the February 5 National Football League game in Omagh.
The CDC decided that Michael Magee, Eoin Mulligan and Kevin Hughes of Tyrone should each be suspended for eight weeks under Rule 140.
Dublin players Ciaran Whelan, Kevin Bonner and Alan Brogan have also been banned from playing for eight weeks under the same disciplinary code.
Both county boards were fined 10,000 euro and issued with a future warning on their future conduct.
Eoin Mulligan and Kevin Hughes of Tyrone were also suspended for four weeks in accordance with Rule 138, to run concurrently.
Brian Cullen of Dublin was suspended for four weeks in accordance with Rule 138 while Peadar Andrews was issued with a severe warning on his future conduct.
Ryan McMenamin of Tyrone was cleared of all charges while team official Dr Seamus Cassidy was issued with a severe warning on his future conduct.
A GAA spokesperson added: “All suspensions under Rule 140 date from the players’ last game.
“Suspensions imposed under Rule 138 date from the players’ last game at inter-county level.”
