Roberts stays on track for treble
Loren Roberts, aiming to become the first player to win the first three events of the Champions Tour season, ended the second round of the ACE Group Classic in Florida tied for the lead.
Roberts shot a six-under-par 66 to finish level with Brad Bryant and Don Pooley, who both carded second-round 67s.
The 50-year-old, an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour, started the season with wins in Hawaii and Turtle Bay to become only the third player in Champions Tour history to win consecutive events to start a season.
Rick Karbowski is a shot back in fourth after carding four birdies in his last six holes, with Hale Irwin, Danny Edwards and first-round leader RW Eaks three strokes off the leaders.
Edwards’ 64 was his best round on the Champions Tour since joining in 2001. He closed with six birdies and an eagle over his final 13 holes.
