Four League debutants for Deise
Waterford manager Justin McCarthy will test the strength of his extended panel in Sunday's NHL Division 1A opener against Wexford at Dungarvan (throw-in 2.30pm).
McCarthy has rested experienced trio Dan Shanahan, Eoin McGrath and Dave Bennett for the visit of the Model men. All three played in last Sunday's Waterford Crystal Shield final win over UCC.
In all, McCarthy has made four changes in personnel from the 1-14 to 1-13 defeat of the Cork students.
De La Salle teenager Kevin Moran - set for his league debut - replaces Bennett at left half-back, McGrath makes way for Michael Walsh at midfield, while in the forwards, Seamus Prendergast and Paul Flynn, the Deise's 2006 captain after 13 years of service, come in for Shanahan and Ger Power respectively.
Corner back Denis Coffey of St. Mary's, and corner forwards Conor Carey (Passage East) and Gearoid O'Connor (Ballygunner) will also make their league bows.
McCarthy is still minus the services of 2004 All-Star Ken McGrath due to suspension, while McGrath's Mount Sion club mate Tony Browne has work commitments abroad.
