Derry dual star to line out for hurlers

17/02/2006 - 16:11:52
Dual star Liam Hinphey will line out for Derry's senior hurlers on Sunday, fresh from helping the county's footballers to two NFL wins.

The Kevin Lynch's clubman, who scored two vital points in the footballers' defeat of Wexford last weekend, will line out at full-back for the hurlers as they open their NHL Division 2A account against Dublin (Lavey, throw-in 2.30pm).

Oak Leaf manager Sean McCloskey has included both Hinphey brothers - the 21-year-old Liam and elder left half-forward Kevin - for the visit of the Dubs, who were relegated from the top flight in 2005.

Last season's Derry minor captain Mark Craig will also get a run-out at midfield. Swatragh clubman Michael Conway, 30, skippers the Oak Leafers from centre back.

DERRY (NHL v Dublin): K Stevenson; A Rafferty, L Hinphey, G Brunton; P Sweeney, M Conway (capt), P O'Kane; E Farren, M Craig; R Convery, G Biggs, K Hinphey; S McBride, P Hearty, C Quinn.
