Sligo cassette factory to close with loss of 91 jobs
17/02/2006 - 11:04:16A video and audio cassette factory in Co Sligo has announced plans to close with the loss of 91 jobs.
Seahan Media in Hazelwood said the decision was linked to heavy losses it suffered last year as a result of a fall in demand for its products worldwide.
The Korean-owned company, which set up in Co Sligo in 1991, had already laid off 70 workers in January last year and 80 more last April.
Seahan was once one of the biggest manufacturing employers in the west of Ireland, with a workforce of around 500.
